Gabriel Castillo – Master Blender of Heaven's Leaf
With 28 years in the tobacco industry, Gabriel Castillo has dedicated his life to perfecting the art of crafting exceptional cigars. His first steps were as a bonchero, rolling cigars entirely by hand in a time when machines weren't part of the process. "It was tough," he recalls, "but within two days I was already making hundreds of cigars. The passion pushed me to learn fast."
Among the people who shaped his path, he highlights the legendary José "Pepín" García of My Father Cigars. "When Pepín tried my work, he told me: 'You're a monster at making puros, you belong at the top.' That motivated me to keep pushing forward," Gabriel says.
Today, as a master blender, his philosophy is simple but powerful: create blends that speak for themselves, where the quality of the leaf and the precision of the craft come together to offer smokers an authentic experience. "It's one thing for me to say I make good cigars, but it's something else when the customer confirms it. That's what makes me proud."
At Heaven's Leaf, Gabriel has brought his expertise into projects like Cosecha Dorada and El Cuñado — blends not yet on the market but already drawing excitement. "What makes us different is the way we work the tobacco. Every detail matters, and what we want is that when someone lights a Heaven's Leaf, they feel they're enjoying something crafted with purpose."
